- Why Federated Innovation?
- Moby Group and Onorato Armatori Spa has chosen Federated Innovation to launch new innovation projects with the ambition to shape the maritime industry itself. The company’s projects will mainly address the environment and passenger experience on board. The company is considering a number of projects based on the analysis of energy consumption, including the use of biofuels and the possibility of having all-electric ships. All these initiatives can be pursued leveraging the know-how of other companies already inside the district, such as Eni, Schneider Electric, Enel X. Innovation is also key to making passengers feel safer and more comfortable. This is possible through the use of virtual reality, which can help children in particular get to know the ship well before they even board: that way instead of being afraid of it, they will be excited to start the journey as soon as possible. Another initiative that the company believes could bring a lot of value to the passengers regards the possibility to study how to keep the connectivity up in the middle of the sea. This type of project could also leverage other companies like Tim, Microsoft and other technological companies that are already in the district. Finally, the group has an ambitious project to build inside the Milano Innovation District: one of the most advanced maritime bridge simulator that can enable captains of different ships to come to MIND and enhance their ship-handling skills in order to be more proficient, IMO compliant and let our sailors gain even more experience.
