Are you a university student and have a strong interest in digital, innovation and the healthcare sector?
Description

After last year's success, EIT Health i-Days, the Hackathon organized by SYNLAB, in collaboration with Cariplo Factory, Federated Innovation @MIND and Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, is back!  

The international competition brings together university students from all over Italy, calling them to solve a challenge in the healthcare sector. 

The EIT Health i-Days promote health innovation among university students through dozens of one and two-day programmes held in academic institutions around Europe. Students from all academic backgrounds receive an introduction to practical health innovation tools and compete in teams to tackle real-life health challenges.  

For the 2024 edition, students like you will approach the "Ageing Population and Chronic Diseases: AI, Cybersecurity and data science to improve patients’ quality of life" challenge. 

During this Hackathon, you will therefore be involved in developing innovative solutions that leverage technology to make healthcare services more accessible, efficient and effective. 

The i-Days, a free event with limited places, promoted by EIT Health (European Institute of Innovation & Technology) and developed in collaboration with Cariplo Factory and Federated Innovation @MIND, will be held in Milan at the Milano Innovation District (MIND), from 5th to 6th of November 2024. 

This year, the hackathon will start with online educational and inspirational sessions for students, held from the 28th to 30th of October 2024.  

In addition to Milan, the EIT Health i-Days will involve more than 20 other European cities, which will elect their own winning groups. The latter will then participate in the Winners' Event - 28-29 of November in Budapest - the final step of the competition, which will reward the most innovative and brilliant proposal at European level.

Challenge Timeline

WEEK 1 - ONLINE 

The i-Days 2024 will open with online educational and inspirational sessions for students, held from the 28th to 30th of October 2024.  

The program of the online speeches will be released in October, stay tuned!  

WEEK 2 – CASCINA TRIULZA, @MIND 

The 2024 hackathon will start on November 5th, at 10.00 AM, and end on November 6th, at 12.00 AM. 

5TH November, Cascina Triulza  

  • Welcome by Andrea Buratti – CEO, SYNLAB Italia at 9.00 AM 

  • Training on the innovation process (i.e. Design Thinking) by Enrico Noseda at 9.40 AM 

  • Final assignment of participants into working teams. 

  • From 10.00 AM, teams can finally start hackathon 

  • The afternoon will be entirely dedicated to the development of ideas with the support of dedicated mentors and tutors.  

The working groups will have at their disposal the Cascina Triulza Academy, where they can work, think and innovate for 26 hours straight, with the possibility of staying overnight (don't forget your sleeping bag!).  
During these days there will be coffee stations, breakfast, box lunches and dinners. 

6TH November, Auditorium Cascina Triulza  

The students’ projects must be submitted by 12.00 AM. 

From 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM, a second round of institutional speeches will take place.  

From 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM each team will have a time slot to present their idea to the board, who will express its vote by 6.00 PM.

The event concludes with a final aperitif.
