- Initiative Description
-
“Sustainability & Decarbonization in a new normal urban environment” is the vision in our Thematic Agenda to shape the city of the future. Evaluate any feasible technical solution or operating model that could meet and support the demand of both logistic services and mobility while reducing traffic, pollution and need for space.
Key in this new urban context are the opportunies brought by the digital technological ecosystem such as autonomous vehicles (air or terrestrial drones), smart charging systems, IoT sensors and communication systems among vehicles and enviroment (5G,bluetooth, LoraWan) exploiting and sharing physical and digital assets of a new urban dimension.
Focus will be on:
- Process efficiency
- Ease of use and integration with both legacy and new processes;
- Security.
- Expected Benefit
-
- Sustainability & Decarbonization in a new normal urban environment.
- Prototypes/demonstrators of the technologies developed by TA.
- Implementation
-
Initiative has completed its design phase, by publishing a comprehensive whitepaper on autonomous driving technology in last mile delivery.
2023 trial will focus on operating aspects, technical feasibility and potential scale up of selected usecases.
- Timeline
-
2022 - DESIGN PHASE
• Identification of specific use cases and in synergy with other Thematic Areas [eg: RetailTech - Urban Digital tech].
• Selection of technology: scouting/identification of the self-driving vehicle consistent with the different use cases.
• Identification of the requirements enabling the on-site experimentation and verification with the stakeholders of the thematic areas.
• Technical, operational and economic feasibility of the service model.
• White Paper drafting: market and ecosystem study to verify and evaluate through the use of unmanned solutions.
2022 - WORKSHOP
Workshop: sharing with key players in the sector about the state of the art and the prospects for self-driving goods/people mobility solutions in the context of smart cities.
2023 - TRIAL IN MIND
The task aims to test and validate within the MIND district the technical feasibility of the self-driving mobility service model, identified through the implementation of the use cases outlined, exploiting or sharing the facilities of the area.
